Ah god. One of my rare 5-star critiques.
This is one of my favorite types of photos. I have no idea what you were trying to say in the photo, but this is what I feel.
Though the background could have some alters to it, it is also nice because it doesn't distract us from the picture, plus it makes the main story of the image clear (whereas if the background was a library or something, then it'd kill the meaning of the image).
I love these kinds of images because (and I'm not sure, forgive me if I insulted someone), the hands look slightly old. Slightly wrinkled but old. And I'm pretty sure it's a man's hand, so it feels like an old man is remembering his past by looking at this old image. When old people looks at photos like this, it kind of feels like the wife had died, the child has either grown up and moved away, or something tragic also happened to him.
The only thing I can't figure out is the setting of this photo. In the image that the man is holding, it feels like country, but then again, it could be just a random field in the middle of the world-- kind of like an advertisement feeling.
I loved the way you make the photo look old fashioned though. Great job.

This photo is very unique. I have read many stories about old men sitting in his chair and staring a photo of happier times. I have also seen videos and photos of that. But this photo is executed very well. The photo has been aged nicely and the coloring of the background draws the looker to the work and age ravished hands and the faded photo. The feelings in this image is sad but happy at the same time, a feeling of lost moments. My only suggestions to this photo would be to fix the lighting of the hands more so that they fit better into the photo and to fade the color around the photo so it is not so red. Other than that, the image is amazing and very well done!

I hope this makes sense, haha, but I find this to bittersweetly awesome. You can tell that something has happened, but the small memory of "happy times" gives it sort of a calming effect. Very good job!

Cool pic. You've overdone some of the 'Burning' though, destroyed a lot of pigment, top of the right thumb for example, you've got to be very careful with that tool. Reduce it's strength drastically, for more control!
